On 11/18/08 I wrote here that Elton John had writing a love song for Baz Luhrmann's epic movie "Australia". This romantic drama, which is set in pre-World War II Australia, stars Nicole Kidman as an English aristocrat who inherits a sprawling ranch, and Hugh Jackman as the cattle driver who helps protect her property from greedy English cattle barons.
Now I could tell you that this film was in post-production right up until the last minute. Because of this we’ve been told that the soundtrack is still in the process of being pieced together due to the final product finishing recording only three short weeks ago!
Angela Little as the credits start rolling, you’ll hear her singin' "By The Boab Tree", a song the musician also co-wrote. If we’re lucky we’ll also get the album with her rendition of "Waltzing Matilda" as used on some versions of the trailer. Also featured on the soundtrack will be The John Butler Trio performing, "All Night Long". And there's "The Drover", an original song penned especially for the film by Baz Luhrmann and Elton John.
